You advise property companies and property investors on buying, selling, merging and raising money, as an analyst in Evercore's Real Estate Strategic Advisory group, known as RESA. Evercore advises and does not lend or invest its own money on a deal. It is paid a fee when the deal completes. RESA is the part of the advisory business that works only on property. Its clients are listed and private property companies, real estate funds and their investors, developers, operators and servicers, and the sponsors who run property funds.

The group works on private mergers and acquisitions, where one company buys or combines with another, on recapitalisations, where the money behind a building or a company is replaced or restructured, and on fundraising for property sponsors, where it raises money from investors for a new fund. It has people in London, Frankfurt, New York, Los Angeles, Dubai and Hong Kong, and this seat is in London.

Analyst is the first full time rank in banking. You do the building work on each assignment, and because RESA works in small teams you are in front of senior people at the client, and partners at the firm, earlier than at a larger desk.
