Analyst
The first level, the one a graduate joins at. In most of finance it is a junior title, not a description of the work.
Analyst is the first full-time title in most of finance, the level people join at straight from university. Analysts do the building work of a team, making the models, preparing the pages and documents, gathering data and checking every number before it reaches anyone senior.
The word means different things in different places. In an investment bank it is a rank, and analysts are promoted to associate after a few years. At an asset manager or in a research team it can describe the job itself, and senior people there may still be called analysts.
So read the rest of the title to see which it is. A summer analyst is an intern at analyst level, a graduate analyst is a new full-time starter, and a title such as investment analyst or credit analyst usually names the work rather than the rank.
