You help senior traders run a portfolio of trades picked by human judgement, checking positions daily, hedging risk and placing trades too complex for a computer. Discretionary trading means a person decides what to buy and sell, rather than a computer program following fixed rules. You join the Discretionary Trading team as a junior who learns on the desk and, over time, learns to manage risk of their own.

The team trades Equities, Commodities, Rates/FX and Credit, including Volatility trading across all asset classes. Equities are company shares, Rates are interest rate products and Credit is company and government debt. Volatility trading means trading on how much prices move rather than which way they move.
