What infrastructure means once you are in the room: regulated utilities (water, energy networks), transport (tolls, airports, rail, ports), social infrastructure (PFI schools and hospitals) and digital infrastructure (towers, fibre, data centres). Each runs on a different revenue engine - a PFI unitary charge is paid regardless of usage, a regulated utility's allowed revenue is set by Ofwat or Ofgem every five to eight years off the Regulated Asset Base, and a toll road or airport carries demand risk directly. Gearing runs high, typically 60-80% net debt to RAB, because the cashflows are predictable and asset lives match long debt tenors. The intern supports investment teams on financial analysis, valuation and modelling and on internal deal material including investment memoranda and valuation presentations; reviews and builds Excel models covering forecasts, valuation, return analysis and sensitivities; screens new deal opportunities and investment perimeters by country and sector; supports the team's asset management work, which the posting says could mean arranging a debt refinancing or working with management teams and external advisers on growth initiatives; supports the co-investment team by liaising between Ardian deal teams and potential co-investors; and prepares asset management reporting and client communication. A November start advertised at the end of August is roughly ten weeks of notice. That is not a campus round with a timetable; it is a desk that needs a pair of hands for a specific window. If you are mid-degree this is not reachable, and if you are finished it is reachable quickly - which is the whole point of off-cycle intakes and why they are worth watching while your friends are queuing for summer 2027.

Required: outstanding academic qualifications from a leading business school or university, and a completed bachelor's or advanced master's degree. The firm asks for relevant prior internships in related fields - it names M&A, strategy consulting, leveraged finance, private equity, infrastructure, or transaction services at a leading auditing company - plus a good commercial understanding of private equity. On the technical side: financial statement analysis and valuation techniques, financial modelling and LBO structuring, and the Microsoft Office suite. Fluent written and spoken English is required, and interns are expected to deal directly with Ardian clients, operating partners, advisers and consultants, and with Infrastructure colleagues in other geographies. Two gates, and both are easy to miss. 'A completed Bachelor's or advanced Master's degree' means finished, not in progress - a penultimate-year student is not eligible here, however strong. And 'relevant prior internships' means this is not a first internship: you need at least one banking, consulting, PE or transaction services stint behind you. If you have both, an off-cycle like this is one of the few private-markets seats a recent graduate can actually reach.
