What the job is
You spend a year inside Lloyds Banking Group's corporate and institutional bank, helping the teams that trade, lend and manage risk for its largest clients.
The placement sits in Corporate Banking and Markets, the part of the bank that serves companies and institutions with annual turnovers of more than £100 million, across the UK and the USA. These clients come to the bank to fund infrastructure, housing and manufacturing projects, to move money around the world and to protect themselves against swings in interest rates and currencies. The bank also calls this the CIB Markets Industrial Placement.
It is a placement year, which means you take a year out between your second and final year at university, do the work of a full member of the team, and go back afterwards to finish your degree. Do well and the placement can become the first step towards a graduate role at the bank.
