You look after a fund's property loans and investments once they are made, forecast how the funds will perform and report that to investors. The seat is an associate place in the portfolio and loan asset management team of a European real estate investment manager, on its debt and value-add platform. Real estate debt means lending to property owners with the building as security. Value-add equity means buying a property, improving it and selling it for more.

The platform lends across whole loans, senior loans and mezzanine loans. A whole loan is the entire loan to a borrower, held by one lender. A senior loan is repaid first if the borrower fails. A mezzanine loan sits behind the senior lender, so it carries more risk and earns a higher return. Associate here is a seat for someone who has already spent a few years on deals in private equity, banking or commercial property.
