What the job is
You spend a summer helping investment analysts study the funds and managers that look after money for charities, pension plans and wealthy families. This is the Summer Investment Analyst programme at Cambridge Associates in London, for students going into their final year.
Cambridge Associates does not mainly pick shares itself. It builds portfolios for its clients by choosing outside investment managers, the firms that actually buy and sell the shares, bonds and private assets, and then watches how they perform. Your summer is spent on that work, on real client portfolios and research projects, with real responsibility for parts of them.
