What the job is
You spend a summer helping the advisers who look after very wealthy families, preparing the reviews and proposals they take into client meetings. The Global Private Bank is the part of JPMorgan that serves very wealthy individuals and families. It invests their money, lends to them, plans how their wealth is held and passed on, and opens the door to the rest of the bank. The firm calls this seat an Advisor Summer Intern, and it runs as a nine-week programme in London for students in their penultimate year.
An adviser owns the relationship with each client. They work out what the client wants their money to do, then bring in specialists to make it happen. This internship is built around that adviser's job, so you sit with the people who win new clients and keep existing ones, rather than with the people who run funds.
