What the job is
You build deep learning models that help IMC's trading systems decide what to trade, as a graduate researcher learning the craft from senior researchers. IMC provides liquidity, which means it stands ready to buy and sell across trading venues so that other investors can deal, and it trades with its own capital and its own technology. Deep learning, the branch of machine learning that uses layered neural networks to find patterns in very large amounts of data, increasingly shapes how those systems trade.
The seat sits in the firm's deep learning effort within Quant Research, the group that builds the models which price securities and forecast markets for the traders. As a graduate you join to do research, not to trade. You see a project through from first idea to live deployment, meaning the point where the model is put to use in real trading, under a senior researcher's guidance.
