What the job is
You pick the outside hedge fund managers that LGT Capital Partners puts its clients' money with, and watch them once the money is in. A hedge fund is an investment fund that can bet on prices falling as well as rising and uses a wide range of strategies. LGT Capital Partners does not run these funds itself. Its Liquid Markets Hedge Funds investment unit builds portfolios and tailored mandates for clients out of many hedge fund strategies, and the global Hedge Funds manager selection team chooses which external managers get an allocation. You join that team as an Investment Professional, based in either Pfaeffikon in Switzerland or London.
Most of the money is placed through segregated managed accounts on the firm's own platform. The manager runs the strategy, but the assets sit in an account the firm controls, which gives it a full view of the positions and the power to pull the money out quickly.
