What the job is
You help a bank decide how much to lend to property investors against offices, warehouses, student housing and other buildings, as a graduate analyst in London. The seat is in the Commercial Real Estate division of Wells Fargo's Corporate & Investment Bank, and you join through the 2027 Commercial Real Estate Early Career Program.
The core of the job is underwriting, which means studying a building, its tenants, the local market and the borrower's finances, then deciding whether to lend, how much and on what terms. Some loans pay for finished buildings, which is investment lending, and some for new construction, which is development lending. The bank lends alone on some deals, shares others with a syndicate of banks, and also lends to other lenders against their own property loans.
