Team: Corporate Bank. Work closely with the Banking team to support the broad range of client needs. (source)

What this title actually means

Citi posted this permanent London seat on 28 August 2026 under Job Family Group: Institutional Banking, Job Family: Corporate Banking. The job is to support account strategies by building an institutional understanding of the client, develop a working knowledge of Citi's products and how they relate to a client's credit allocation, handle routine credit queries and problem escalation, help clients navigate Citi's network, and co-ordinate the global credit allocation process with the GNB Network, Product Partners, ICM, Risk and Credit Risk Management Services to move credit approval requests through. Source

The page has a 'Development Value' paragraph that says what you would come away with: a good understanding of the client's organisation and its banking needs, client-facing exposure dealing with their day-to-day credit requirements, a thorough understanding of Citi's products, risk and controls, cross-product exposure, and a network across Citi branches around the globe. Source

Token by token, because two of the three are easy to misread. 'Corporate Bank' is not investment banking: it is the lending and transaction-banking relationship a bank has with large companies - credit lines, guarantees, letters of credit, cash management - and its product is credit, not advice on a deal. 'Relationship' is the client-coverage side of that business, and this is the support seat within it: you keep the credit and the paperwork moving so the bankers can be in front of the client. 'Associate' is Citi's corporate title for the seat, and unusually for a Citi permanent row the page attaches no number of years to it at all.

The team

This row reaches us with no team attached, and the page does not close the gap: it gives the job family and nothing below it - no industry portfolio, no client segment, no named coverage group. In a corporate bank the portfolio is the job. Supporting a book of financial institutions is a different life from supporting natural resources or European mid-caps: different products, different credit questions, different people. That is the first question to the recruiter, and it is a fair one to ask before you write a cover letter.

What the page does tell you is the shape of the desk, through its neighbours. You would work with the Banking team on client needs, with Product teams on credit requirements, with the GNB Network and Product Partners on day-to-day credit requests, with CRMS and the Documentation Unit on credit line set-up and availment, with Trade Implementations on issuing guarantees and letters of credit, and with Operations, AML and ICG Partners on KYC creation and renewal. Source

The firm

318 people have held London roles at Citigroup as a whole since 2018 - one of the largest London footprints, and a firm where internal moves between businesses are the normal way people's careers here develop.

What this posting signals

Read the responsibilities for what they actually are: credit approvals processed within Wholesale Credit Risk policy, client Support Discussions lodged in Citi Risk Approvals, guarantees and letters of credit documented through the Documentation Unit, KYC creation and renewal, annual reviews of global facilities, and data-exception clean-ups. This is a real client-facing job with real responsibility, and it is a process and controls job, not a modelling job. If your CV is aimed at M&A, nothing here builds that story. If you want to understand how a bank actually extends credit to a large company - which very few juniors ever see - few seats teach it faster.

No deadline is stated and the row has been open since 28 August 2026. A permanent seat like this closes when someone accepts, not on a date, so an application this week is worth more than a better one next month.

Are you eligible?

The stated requirements: a Bachelor's degree in finance or a closely related area of business administration; knowledge of Citi products - cash management, custody, Markets - is preferable; basic credit skills; proven ability to learn and exert sound judgement; client focused and results oriented; consistent follow-up and organisational skills; excellent verbal and written communication; proven planning, negotiation and analytical experience; and a professional attitude. Source

Read this bar precisely, because it is one of the more open ones on a permanent London bank row. The only hard academic requirement is a bachelor's in finance or business administration. The product knowledge is 'preferable', not required. No number of years appears anywhere on the page. The two phrases that decide whether a recent graduate is genuinely in scope are 'basic credit skills' and 'proven planning, negotiation and analytical experience' - and neither is quantified, which means the real bar is the recruiter's and not the page's. That is a reason to ask, not a reason to self-reject.

Nothing here mentions right to work or visa sponsorship, and nothing mentions a start date. On a permanent corporate-bank seat both are worth settling in the first conversation, particularly the sponsorship question - support roles like this are not always inside a bank's sponsored population even when front-office programmes are.
