What the job is
You build the models and presentations that Lazard's bankers use to advise business services companies on buying, selling and merging with other companies. The seat is in the Business Services M&A Team in London. M&A stands for mergers and acquisitions, advising a company's board or owners on a sale, a purchase or a merger and running the deal from first pitch to signed contract. Senior Analyst sits between analyst and associate, for someone with 1 to 2 years of M&A experience already.
Business services firms sell expertise and labour rather than products. They include consulting, staffing, facilities management, outsourcing, and testing and inspection companies, so valuing them means understanding billing rates, staff costs and contracts rather than factories.
