Who to write to at Apollo Global Management

What this title actually means

This is an investment professional's seat on Apollo's Private Investment Grade team, part of the Global Investment Grade business, covering the origination, structuring, underwriting, execution and ongoing management of illiquid investments across developed markets. The mandate is format-agnostic: 4(a)(2) private placements, bilateral and club senior secured loans, forward-flow structures, infrastructure and project finance, and secondary purchases. The stated objective is to earn excess spread over comparable public investment grade in return for the extra complexity and illiquidity. Posted 18 May 2026. Source

'Private IG' is private investment grade, and the word doing the work is private. Public investment grade means buying bonds that already exist at a price the market sets. Private means Apollo negotiates the loan itself - the structure, the covenants, the documents - with one borrower, and holds it. That is why the posting reads as half credit analysis and half deal execution, and why it says the job 'combines elements of principal investing and structured finance'.

Plainly: an experienced hire, not an entry route. Three to six years of relevant work is the stated bar, and 'Associate' here is the band above a first-job analyst rather than a graduate title. A student cannot apply to this. What it is useful for is direction - it shows exactly which junior jobs feed the seat, because Apollo names them: leveraged finance, M&A, restructuring, or buy-side corporate and infrastructure private credit.

The team

Our row for this posting has no team attached, so nothing here links to a team page you can compare against. The posting itself is not vague, though - it names the Private Investment Grade team inside the Global Investment Grade business, and lists the desks you would work across. Read the team facts below as the firm's own words rather than as our org chart.

The seat works cross-functionally with portfolio managers, Apollo's IG sector analysts and the Performing Credit analyst team, High Grade Corporate Solutions, Apterra, ABF, Hybrid Value, risk, legal, compliance, insurance solutions and operations - plus external accountants, consultants, industry advisers and investment banks, and counterparties including corporate executives, lenders and agents. Source

The work itself, in the posting's own order: build historical and projected company models and transaction cashflow models with scenario, downside and structural waterfall cases; run independent fundamental credit analysis and present recommendations to the Investment Committee in credit memos with risk, reward, relative value and covenant analysis; assign and maintain internal credit ratings; evaluate deal terms and legal documentation and support covenant negotiation with counsel; run execution from screening to close; then hold the position afterwards - performance tracking, covenant compliance testing, amendments and waivers, and acting as the primary point of contact for issuers post-close. Source

The firm

Apollo describes itself as a global alternative asset management and retirement services platform, investing across the risk-reward spectrum from investment grade to private equity around three strategies - yield, hybrid and equity - with Athene as the retirement services business. Source

134 people have held London roles at Apollo Global Management as a whole since 2018. there is no separate London figure for the Private Investment Grade team, so treat the desk size as unknown rather than small.

What this posting signals

Two things on this page tell you what the seat really is. First, the regulatory list: analysis has to carry US insurance rules (NAIC/SVO, RBC, Schedule D) and European ones (Solvency II, matching adjustment, fundamental spread), and you flag balance-sheet constraints such as concentration limits and admitted asset treatment during underwriting. Second, the posting asks you to contribute to the team's 'process and AI tooling agenda' - deal screening, underwriting templates, surveillance dashboards and AI-enabled workflows. Source

Check the link before you spend time on it. The application URL the record holds for this row is built around a different job title - a quantitative research associate requisition - while the page text is the Private IG seat described above. Either the requisition was recycled or our capture crossed two rows. If the page you land on does not say Private Investment Grade, you are not looking at this job.

Posted 18 May 2026 with no deadline, this row has been open for close to four months. On a named lateral seat that means it is either nearly filled or genuinely hard to fill, and the answer is the same either way: apply now, or write to the recruiter rather than into the form. We do not mark a posting closed without positive evidence, so it stays live here until Apollo pulls it.

Are you eligible?

Required: three to six years of relevant work experience, ideally in investment banking (leveraged finance, M&A or restructuring) or buy-side corporate or infrastructure private credit; a bachelor's degree with an exceptional academic record, with CFA charter or progress preferred and an MBA or advanced degree a plus; valuation experience, meaning you can independently build and defend company, position and transaction cashflow models; advanced Excel modelling and familiarity with Bloomberg, BlackRock Aladdin or comparable systems; and hands-on covenant review and documentation experience across at least one of private placements, syndicated or club loans, or structured credit. Source

What is explicitly not required: familiarity with insurance balance-sheet investing (NAIC/SVO, RBC, Solvency II) is 'a plus', and the posting adds that a willingness to develop the gaps is essential. Exposure to infrastructure, project finance or asset-backed structures is also listed as a plus rather than a requirement. Source

Read where the hard line falls: valuation and covenant work are required, insurance regulation is not. That is the difference between a seat you can reach from a leveraged finance or restructuring analyst programme in three years and one you cannot. If you are planning backwards from here, the modelling and documentation experience is the part you have to go and get.
