Banking, Investment Banking, Full Time Analyst, London - United Kingdom 2027 - (Applicable for 2026 Citi Summer interns only)
No deadline given. It closes when the places fill, which on a sought-after London desk is often weeks after it opens. Apply as if it closes tomorrow.
What this title actually means
Citi is hiring full-time analysts for the Investment Banking team in London. The posting describes the group as advising corporate clients who want to raise funds in capital markets and who need strategic support in financial transactions, with the work spanning mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, financial restructurings, and underwriting and distributing equity, debt and derivative securities. Source
The parenthesis at the end of the title is the whole story of this posting: 'Applicable for 2026 Citi Summer interns only'. Source
That parenthesis makes this a closed door rather than a job you can apply for. It is the conversion route for people who sat Citi's 2026 London summer programme, the mechanism by which a return offer becomes a formal application and an employment contract. If you were not on that internship, this is not an application you can make, however well the rest of the description matches you, and submitting one costs you the time and tells Citi you did not read the title.
On the doubled division token: 'Banking' is Citi's umbrella for its institutional client businesses and 'Investment Banking' is the advisory and capital markets franchise inside it, which is why Workday files the role as Job Family Group Institutional Banking, Job Family Investment Banking. It is a filing convention, not two different teams, and it is the opposite side of the firm from Citi's Markets division.
The team
The analyst's day, as the posting sets it out: conducting research and analysing industry trends related to business development; building financial models, assessing valuation and exploring corporate finance solutions for big-picture financial analyses; and taking part in client development, including coordinating data with clients and helping present new ideas to them. Whatever your degree is in, Citi says it will give you the training you need. Source
119 people have held London roles in Citi's Investment Banking Division since 2018, the largest single London unit at the firm.
No coverage or product group is named anywhere on the posting: no TMT, no FIG, no Industrials, no M&A. At a bank this size the group is decided after the offer and usually after training, so this application is for the division, not for a desk. If you did the summer and want a specific group, the conversation that decides it is with your summer team, not with this form.
The firm
The role is based at 25 Canada Square, Canary Wharf, London E14 5LB, on a hybrid model with a mandatory three days in your assigned office and an optional two from home, subject to business approval. Source
318 people have held London roles at Citigroup as a whole since 2018.
What this posting signals
The analyst programme starts in mid-July and opens with a six-week in-depth training programme in London before you join a team, with training continuing on the job. Third-year analysts who have received consistently high ratings become eligible for a one-year rotation in another team in London or internationally; alternatively Citi will sponsor a one-year Masters in Finance at London Business School. Source
On timing the posting is unusually explicit: 'We will be recruiting on a rolling basis therefore we encourage you to apply as soon as possible. There is no deadline for applications.' Source
That third-year clause tells you the shape of the deal Citi is offering, and it is worth reading carefully even if you cannot apply. The bank is describing a three-year analyst programme with a built-in reward for staying past the point where most people leave for private equity, and a funded LBS Masters in Finance is a real, costed benefit. When you are comparing banks, that belongs in the comparison alongside the group you would sit in.
Are you eligible?
Stated requirements: in your final year of university or graduated; expected or achieved a 2:1 or equivalent at undergraduate level in any degree discipline; an interest in business; fluency in a second language desirable but not essential. On top of all that sits the restriction in the title, which limits the posting to Citi's 2026 summer interns. Source
This is a Certified Role under the FCA and PRA Certification Regime, so Citi must assess you as fit and proper before you can do the job. The three headings are honesty, integrity and reputation; financial soundness; and competence and capability. The assessment runs through extensive interviews, self-disclosures, permitted criminal record checks, regulated reference checks, credit checks and other background screening. Source
If you were not on Citi's 2026 London summer programme, put the effort into Citi's open 2027 analyst postings instead, the ones with no parenthesis in the title. This row is still worth two minutes of your time, though, because it spells out exactly what a return offer from that internship converts into: a mid-July start, six weeks of training, and a three-year track. That is useful when you are working out whether the summer seat is worth chasing in the first place.
