What this title actually means

CreditSights is hiring a Senior Research Credit Analyst for Euro Services and Healthcare in its London office, posted 23 August 2026 under the business unit Fitch Solutions and the category Credit Analysis and Research. CreditSights describes itself as a producer of unbiased research on global credit markets for a global institutional client base - banks, investment advisors, mutual funds and hedge funds - with offices in London, New York, Singapore and Glasgow, work quoted in Bloomberg, the Wall Street Journal and the Financial Times, and twenty-five years of history behind it. Source

Read the title in four pieces. 'Senior' is the band and the posting prices it at five years in investment-grade and high-yield credit. 'Research' is the deliverable: the page calls it a publishing role and asks for active production of research with depth, timeliness and market relevance - your name goes on notes that paying clients read. 'Credit Analyst' means you work on the debt, not the equity: the question is whether a company can service and refinance its borrowings, not whether its shares are cheap. 'Euro Services and Healthcare' is the patch - European issuers in two sectors, with the preference stated for people who have covered them in high yield.

The line about 'an emphasis on relative value' is the one that tells you what the days look like. A relative-value seat does not stop at whether a company is sound; it ranks bonds against each other and says which one to own at today's spread. That is a comparative discipline - you have to hold a dozen issuers in your head at once - and it is why the posting pairs the analytical requirement with a communication one: the view is worth nothing until a client can act on it.

The team

No team is named. The section headed 'About the Team' describes the firm rather than the desk - a premier independent credit research house where you collaborate with seasoned analysts - so the only unit you can actually pin down is the coverage patch itself: European services and healthcare credits. On a research desk that is the question to ask first, because how many analysts share the patch decides whether you own ten issuers or forty.

What the firm says about the working environment: you would be part of a team of seasoned analysts delivering intelligence that helps clients navigate complex markets, in a setting the page describes as encouraging professional growth and innovation. The role is hybrid, with three days a week in the office. Source

Half the patch, from our own orientation on business services: these firms sell brainpower, labour and execution rather than products, across consulting, staffing, facilities management, BPO, testing/inspection/certification and government services. Margins vary sharply - staffing runs razor-thin at 3-6% EBITDA while consulting and TIC reach 12-22% - and the cash matters more than the asset base, because staffing pays workers weekly, bills clients monthly and collects in 30-45 days, so growth eats working capital. For a credit analyst that is the whole story: thin margins plus working-capital drag is where a services issuer gets into trouble. Source

The other half, from our healthcare orientation: coverage runs across big pharma, specialty pharma, biotech, medtech, healthcare services, life-science tools, CROs and CDMOs. The work centres on quantifying patent cliffs - small molecules lose 70-90% of revenue in the two years after exclusivity ends, biosimilars 30-50% - and on stress-testing reimbursement, from NICE's roughly £30k per QALY threshold to NHS tariff cuts and US price negotiation. Private equity arbitrages fragmented services businesses from 6-10x entry into 12-18x exit, which is where the leveraged healthcare credits come from. Source

The firm

Two names are in play and they are not the same business. The advert is on Fitch Group's careers site, the business unit is given as Fitch Solutions, and the hiring brand is CreditSights, a Fitch Solutions company producing research sold to institutional investors. Source

Our own row files this under Fitch Ratings, and that is worth correcting before you apply. The page puts the job in Fitch Solutions, at CreditSights, writing for investors who buy the research. If what you wanted was the rating agency - assigning ratings, sitting on rating committees - this is the neighbouring business, not that one.

10 people have held London roles at Fitch Ratings since 2018, and that is a thin bench rather than a measure of the firm. Note too that our number is attached to the rating agency, while this seat sits in the research business next door, so treat it as background about the group rather than about this desk.

What this posting signals

One requirement is unusual enough to plan around: Fitch says that if you are successful you will be asked to declare any securities holdings and other potential conflicts before you start, and that if you or your immediate family hold anything that conflicts with your responsibilities, you may be asked to sell it. A credit research seat costs you the freedom to hold what you cover. Source

The firm asks for comfort with AI as part of the job rather than as a bonus: applied use of AI tools to enhance core workflows appears under what would make you stand out, and Fitch states that AI is embedded in how it works day to day and that it is looking for people who are comfortable - or at least curious and adaptable - in an AI-enabled environment. Source

No deadline is stated and a publishing seat is filled when the right writer appears, not on a date. This one went up on 23 August 2026, so it is fresh; if you have the five years, apply now. If you do not, the row is still worth reading as the clearest available description of what a credit research career looks like from the inside - and of what the bar is five years in.

Are you eligible?

Stated requirements: educated to degree level or equivalent; strong knowledge of accounting and experience analysing companies; strong written and verbal communication; five or more years in investment-grade and high-yield credit markets; a seasoned communicator with client-facing experience; and proficiency in Excel, Word and PowerPoint. Listed as things that would make you stand out rather than as requirements: experience analysing high-yield services and healthcare credits; degrees in STEM, finance, accounting, economics or business; Bloomberg and FactSet; applied use of AI tools; producing high-quality work under pressure; and an appetite for training and mentoring junior analysts. Source

Read the bar precisely, because it is not where students usually assume. There is no degree class, no university filter and no named subject requirement - the subjects sit under 'stand out' - so nothing on this page screens on where you studied. The entire gate is the five years in IG and HY credit, which means this is an experienced hire in the plainest sense: not reachable from a degree, and reachable from a credit desk, a ratings seat or a leveraged finance bench.
