New here? Every junior finance job in London, each one explained in plain English. Start with what the words mean, then work down the board.
No deadline given. It closes when the places fill, which on a sought-after London desk is often weeks after it opens. Apply as if it closes tomorrow.
The London-based M&A Healthcare team at Lincoln International is hiring an Analyst, posted 21 August 2026, and the firm calls the team 'growing'. Lincoln describes the Analyst as the analytical anchor of the deal team, responsible for preparing, completing and ensuring the accuracy of all financial modelling and analysis, and expected to interpret the results, pose questions and draw conclusions rather than just produce them - involved in a transaction from start to finish. Source
The duties as listed: collecting and analysing financial and commercial data to support transaction conclusions; company profiles and detailed market mapping to support deal origination; drafting information memoranda and marketing materials; designing and reviewing integrated operating models; preparing client presentations, credential packs and business development materials; valuing public and private companies through comparable company analysis, precedent transactions, DCF and LBO modelling under senior guidance; and researching the healthcare and pharma sectors, companies and potential buyers. Source
What the M&A product actually is, from our own orientation: mandates are won in beauty parades where three to five banks pitch for sixty to a hundred and twenty minutes on market overview, process, track record, team and fees. A sell-side then runs four to six months - weeks one to four on seller diligence, quality of earnings and data room setup; weeks four to eight on buyer outreach with teasers and NDAs producing five to ten indicative bids; weeks eight to fourteen narrowing to two to four bidders with full data room access; weeks fourteen to eighteen on best-and-final bids and SPA negotiation; then regulatory clearance to closing. Sell-side fees run 1-3% of enterprise value against 0.5-1.5% on the buy side. The deliverables an analyst owns are the Confidential Information Memorandum of forty to a hundred pages, the management presentation, the data room and the valuation work behind them. Source
'Analyst' at Lincoln is the junior deal seat by function, but not by entry route - the stated bar is two to four years of M&A experience. Read the word as a band rather than a starting line: this is a lateral analyst hire, the kind filled by someone already two years into corporate finance, not a graduate intake. Everything else in the title is straightforward: 'Healthcare' is the sector you cover, 'M&A' is the product, and at Lincoln M&A is the first service line the firm lists about itself rather than one desk among many.
The team is the London-based M&A Healthcare team, which the firm says is growing. You would work closely with senior team members on multiple projects at once, and part of the stated job is research on the healthcare and pharma sectors and on potential buyers - so the desk originates as well as executes, and the analyst is expected to feed that. Source
The homework for this desk, from our healthcare orientation: the work centres on quantifying patent cliffs - small molecules lose 70-90% of revenue in the two years after loss of exclusivity, biosimilars 30-50%. Pipeline assets are probability-weighted by trial stage, Phase III at roughly 55-60%, and built into rNPV with peak sales, time to market and discount rates of 10-12% for pharma and 12-15% for biotech. Multiples differ by subsector and you are expected to know them cold: services 8-15x, Big Pharma 12-16x, MedTech and Life Sciences Tools on razor-and-blade recurring revenue at 15-25x and 20-30x EV/EBITDA, biotech on rNPV only. Reimbursement is the stress test - NICE at £30K per QALY, NHS tariff cuts, IRA price negotiation - and private equity arbitrages fragmented healthcare services from 6-10x entry to 12-18x exit. Source
That last line about sponsors buying fragmented services at 6-10x is the one to hold on to here. Lincoln introduces itself as an adviser to business owners and to senior executives of leading private equity firms and their portfolio companies, and it sells private funds advisory and valuations alongside M&A. Expect your mandates to be sell-sides of sponsor-owned healthcare businesses rather than mega-cap pharma mergers, and prepare the roll-up arithmetic rather than only the pipeline arithmetic.
Lincoln International, Inc. is listed on the NYSE as LCLN and describes itself as an investment banking adviser to business owners and to senior executives of leading private equity firms and their portfolio companies, as well as to public and private companies. Its services are M&A advisory, private funds and capital markets advisory, and valuations and fairness opinions, delivered by more than 1,400 professionals in more than 30 offices across 14 countries. Its UK entities, Lincoln International LLP and IMAS Corporate Finance LLP, are authorised and regulated by the FCA. Source
15 people have held London roles at Lincoln International as a whole since 2018 - a firm-level count, because the London office is too small for us to publish a separate number for the healthcare desk.
Fifteen across the whole London office over eight years is the scale to plan around, against more than 1,400 people globally. You would be on live mandates rather than in a pool, judged by two or three seniors rather than a scorecard - and with almost no alumni crowd to ask what the interview is like. If you want to speak to someone who has done this job, you will be finding them one at a time.
One line in this posting is unusual enough to prepare for specifically: among the analyst's duties is 'effective prompting and developing practical agentic workflows to enhance research, analysis, drafting and execution efficiency, while maintaining rigorous quality control, confidentiality and sound professional judgement', and the qualifications repeat it as familiarity with AI tools. That is a stated part of the job, not a nice-to-have, so have a concrete answer ready - which tools you use, on what task, and how you check the output before it reaches a client. The confidentiality clause in the same sentence is the point they care about most.
No deadline is stated and the row opened on 21 August 2026. A single named seat at a firm this size is filled when the right person turns up and pulled when they accept, so speed beats polish: apply this week rather than spending a fortnight on the covering letter. We do not mark a posting closed without positive evidence, so treat it as live until Lincoln says otherwise.
Stated qualifications: two to four years of experience in M&A with strong deal exposure; a comprehensive understanding of financial statements and valuation theory; proficiency in financial modelling; strong attention to detail and organisational skills; the ability to manage multiple stakeholders and work independently. Familiarity with S&P Capital IQ, MergerMarket and GainPro is 'a plus'; ACA, CFA or an equivalent qualification is 'of advantage'; fluent English is required and additional languages are a bonus. Source
One hard gate, stated in the additional information: Lincoln International is not currently hiring individuals for this position who now or in the future require sponsorship for employment visa status. If you would need a Skilled Worker visa now or at any point later, this seat is closed to you regardless of the rest of your application. Source
Two to four years of M&A means this is not a student seat and not a first job. If you are at university or newly graduated, use the row for what it tells you - the London healthcare desk is growing, and Lincoln recruits into it laterally - and put your applications into the intakes that do take graduates. If you are a Big Four financial due diligence associate or a year or two into another boutique, this is squarely aimed at you, provided the visa line does not catch you.
